Team Dressage Results
What an outstanding event this was for the club. In the Senior Team Qualifier Vanessa Jenson & Court Jester were 1st in their arena. Emma Payne & Torrison were 4th in theirs and the team finished 5th overall. In the prelim 18, Stephanie Mitchell & Lady Phoenix were 3rd. Mike Turner and Lady Tipperary finished 5th. Emma & ‘Torrie’ won the Novice 27 class and she collected a 3rd place on Sweet Satisfaction in the same class. Emma also won the Novice 34 class on ‘Sweetie’ and was 2nd on ‘Torrie’. Vanessa qualified for the championships later in the year. Zoe Willis & Fudge finished 5th in the Junior Riding Test class and are just awaiting confirmation, owing to a marking mistake, but should finish 4th in the Novice 24 class.Well done to you all!!!!!!
Horse Trial Results
What another outstanding event for the club in the Senior Horse Trial Team Qualifier. Emma Payne & Sweet Satisfaction were 1st overall and she finished 5th with her other ride Torrison. New member Hannah Bell & George were 3rd, Wendy Skrypczuk and Ping were 7th.Team A: Emma & Sweetie, Wendy & Ping, Hannah Drury and Averlline and Tracey Harvey & Prince Libro finished 2nd overall. Team B: Emma & Torrie, Hannah Bell & George, Vanessa Jenson & Court Jester and Mike Turner & Lady Tipperary finished 3rd overall. Emma and Sweetie have qualified for the championships. A big well done everybody. . . .(Again)
Show Jumping Results
It was another outstanding event for the club. This is getting to get a bit repetitive, but in a good way. The team members where Emma Payne & Torrison, Katie Skrypczuk & Pink Lady, Tracey Harvey & Prince Libro, Mike Turner & Lady Tipperary, Wendy Skrypczuk & Ping, Hannah Drury & Averlline, Juliet Clarke & Bubba and Mike Turner & Lady Phoenix. It was an early start to an exciting day. It was a great 1st round for both teams. Emma and Tracey got off to a flyer with 2 clears. Katie had an unlucky knock down and Mike had the one stop. Which he was very pleased about considering the disaster he had the last time they went show jumping. Team B all went clear in the 1st round. Well done guys. Bring on round 2. The competitive juices were flowing by now. Except for Hannah of course who believes that taking part is the most fun! Enough of that. Emma went clear again, Katie was clear too. Poor Tracey had a stop and Mike had a rush of blood to the head when he thought he was riding a clear round and had the 3rd last down. D’oh!!! Team B carried on where they left off. Wendy and Hannah both had double clears. Mike and Phoenix had the slightest of touches to bring a pole down and scupper their chance of a double clear and Juliet & Bubba had a couple of unlucky knock downs. Into the jump off went the 3. Emma was first to go. She put up a sterling effort and just had the one fence down. Hannah jumped a lovely steady clear round and then birthday girl Wendy went out and burnt up the track with a screaming clear round!!!! Now I’m not one to complain but . . . . . . . there was a malfunction with the clock and it stopped in-between the second last and last fence and the judge announced this as her time and put her in first place. We all knew it wasn’t that time, but it was only another 3 or 4 seconds on top. Eventually when they gave out the time, incredibly they tacked on another 8 seconds. I don’t know where that came from? Our protests fell on deaf ears and the result stood. Which was an individual 3rd place for Wendy. Team B finished 4th overall and Team A was 6th. We also entered a team for style jumping which finished 3rd, even if there were one or two unusual scores on the team. You’re right Hannah, style jumping is so overrated!!!! A big well done everybody for a great effort and a really fun day!!!!!!!!

September Show Sunday 5th September
Just another reminder to all club members to come along and help at the show. Whether it is setting up the show, or maybe volunteer for an hour or two on the day or spare an evening after to help take everything down and pack it away for the winter. Anytime spared is very much appreciated. If everyone could pitch in it a little bit it will make the putting up and taking down a lot easier and faster. Thanks for your help everybody!!!!!

WELL DONE EVERYONE!!!!!!!

Two Day Event (Result)
This took place at Offchurch over the Bank Holiday weekend. The club had two competitors taking part, Katie Skrypczuk and Hannah Drury. The weather for the first day was pretty foul. Happily it was much more pleasant for the second. Katie scored 49.1 dressage, which is not too bad considering there was a polo match taking place next door and ‘Rizz’ seemed more interested in that than her test. The pair then jumped a brilliant clear round in the show jumping phase. Hannah on the other hand didn’t fair so well. To say ‘Av’s’ mind was not on the job was a bit of an understatement. I believe the quote Hannah gave was ‘She was wired to the moon!!!’
Hannah would like to forget her dressage score, so I won’t mention it. Things then just got worse and the whole occasion got to ‘Av’ and the pair retired during the show jumping phase. Fingers crossed for the pair that she is better behaved next time they compete.
Katie and Rizz played a blinder on the second day and the pair went clear on all three phases to finish on her dressage score. That was good enough for 9th and Katie was very proud of her pony!!!
Festival of the Horse BRC Championships (Results)
This took at Aston La Wells on the 5th and 6th of June. The club had three riders who took part. They were Katie Skrypczuk and Pink Lady who finished 4th in the Working Hunter Class, Hannah Drury and Aveline who finished 2nd in the Retrained Racehorse Class and to Mike Turner and Lady Tipperary who finished 8th in the Combined Training Championship. Well done to the three of you!!!!!!
Horse Trial & Show Jumping Qualifier
Just another reminder for those who want to take part. Both events take place at Solihull Riding Club (Near Hockley Heath). The ODE is on Sunday 4th July and the show jumping is on the 18th. Teams of four and individuals are all eligible to take part in this event. All those interested can you please let Wendy know (07530 651744 or email: wendy@ettingtonkinetonrc.co.uk) as soon as possible.
Club Lessons
There is one flat lesson to be held next month on the 23rd of July at Moyfield Riding School. The instructor will be Emma Payne. All those who are interested please contact Mike Turner on 07956 429517 or mike@ettingtonkinetonrc.co.uk as soon as possible as spaces are limited. Weather permitting this lesson will be held outside. These lessons are proving to be popular so I would just like to thank Joan Bomford at Moyfield Riding School for the use of the facilities and to Emma Payne for the fantastic lessons. If you haven’t had a lesson with Emma yet I suggest you do, they really are informative!!
June Show
The day started with warm glorious sunshine and continued to get hotter throughout. The showed proved to be very popular and most of the classes were well supported. The first couple of show jumping classes had a lot of entries and it certainly kept Rob busy putting knocked down poles back up! The catering caravan proved popular as ever -Tony, Ian and Wendy were working hard serving hotdogs, bacon rolls and cold drinks.
A big thank you to our overseas judges, Bram and Yoke for judging the Fancy Dress. I bet they weren’t expecting to do anything like that when they arrived at Tony and Sheila’s on Saturday. The side saddle riders looked very elegant and the competition was pretty tough in the Lead Rein and First Ridden Pony, as was the pure bred Mountain and Moorland (well done Emma for your sterling judging!!!!) The gymkhana looked very exciting with plenty of competitors. Well done Ray, Jo and Vanessa for keeping order to some overly excited kids taking part. Although, I think Vanessa was pretty tired by the end of the day!! Competition was pretty intense for the Chase-me-Charlie and it finished on a big height. The clear round had its usual large attendance. Well done to Len and Tracey and thanks for your effort. The table top sale had a steady stream of people browsing for bargains. But the highlight of the day has to go to Janet and Sheila who each had turns riding on the back of Ian’s Harley. Very cool ladies!!!!
Finally, a big thanks goes out to all those who either; set up the show, helped on the day or packed everything away. Without their help the show couldn’t have taken place!!!!!
New Members
E.P.K.R.C. would like to welcome new members Hannah Bell & Sally Wilks. Hopefully it won’t be too long before Hannah and Sally are competing for the club. Good luck for the upcoming year.
Summer BBQ
This is another club event, taking place on the 10th of July at Margaret Hughes house (Shottery Village, Stratford-upon-Avon). This is open to members and non-members so bring your friends along! The cost is £5 per person to cover the costs of the food. Please bring your own drink and crockery. All those who are interested in attending can you please contact Ann & Ray Cubberly a.s.a.p. so we can confirm numbers and most importantly make sure we do not run out of burgers!!!!!! (Ann & Ray can be reached on 01789 840680).

Show Jumping Qualifier
This is another event which takes place at Solihull Riding Club on Sunday 18th July. Teams of four and individuals are all eligible to take part in this event. All those interested can you please let Wendy know (07530 651744 or email: wendy@ettingtonkinetonrc.co.uk) as soon as possible as she has to put the prelim entries in 3 weeks prior to the event. Again, don’t forget your horse will require an up to date flu vac to take part. Please bring it with you to the competition.

Horse Trial Qualifier
This is an O.D.E. which takes place at Solihull Riding Club (Near Hockley Heath) on Sunday 4th July. Teams of four and individuals are all eligible to take part in this event. For those who haven’t ridden Solihull XC course before, I find the Novice course not too challenging and ground is usually reasonable regardless how little rain we have. It can however get a little heavy by the river if it rains, but they don’t always use that part of the course. All those interested can you please let Wendy know (07530 651744 or email: wendy@ettingtonkinetonrc.co.uk) as soon as possible as she has to put the prelim entries in 3 weeks prior to the event. Don’t forget your horse will require an up to date flu vac to take part. Please bring it with you to the competition as without it, and you’re lucky enough to qualify for the championships, you won’t be eligible.
27-May-10
Dressage Qualifier
This competition takes place at Offchurch on Sunday 27th June. The qualifier is for senior novice and juniors. There is also an Open senior dressage competition, but this is just a point’s competition and not a qualifier. Teams of four and individuals are welcome to take part. All those interested can you please let Wendy know (07530 651744 or email: wendy@ettingtonkinetonrc.co.uk) as soon as possible as she has to put the prelim entries in 3 weeks prior to the event

Dressage Show
The day was warm and sunny which is always a plus and the atmosphere for the day was very relaxed. The show went well with a fair amount of entries and the club managed to make a profit on the day. Many thanks to Daphne for sorting the entries and the times, Jo for stewarding, Tony and Sheila for the catering and setting up the arenas, Mike for the extra ground poles, Ann and Ray for the scoring and sheet collection and to all the people who helped collect the equipment at the end of the day. Without their help the day couldn’t have gone ahead. Thanks everyone

Festival of the horse eventer challenge
This took place at MKEC. The club put forward a team of four. They were Katie Skrypczuk, Wendy Skrypczuk, Tracey Harvey and Mike Turner. The day was vey hot and so was the competition, but we held our own against the others. Wendy managed to finish 2nd overall, Katie was 3rd and the team finished 6th. There was also a pairs competition which took place. Mike and Tracey finished 6th and thanks to some strange rules; Wendy & Katie were unplaced even though they were the only pair to jump a double clear. Well done to all those who took part!!!!
29-Apr-10
Festival of the hunter Qualifier
This was a combined training competition that took place at Princethorpe Schools. The club had originally put forward a team of three, but unfortunately other commitments and thrown shoes whittled the team down to one, Mike Turner who rode Lady Tipperary. Mike and ‘Tipp’ performed one of their better dressage tests, but Tipp struggled a bit show jumping owing to the hard ground and her fragile legs. Still they jumped well enough to finish 3rd overall. A great result, meaning they qualify for the championships at Aston-le-Walls.

New Members
E.P.K.R.C. would like to welcome new member Tracey Checkly. Hopefully it won’t be too long before Juliet is competing for the club. Good luck for the upcoming year.
